Although it might seem that the marriage of LEDs to marine navigation lights is a perfect match of technology to a particular need, it has been only relatively recently (early to mid 1990's) that light-emitting diodes(LEDs)which were suitable in intensity, beam pattern, and color have become available for this application.Deep Creek Design, Inc. was the first to market a LED anchor light, (now made by FirstStar LED) in 1998. Others soon followed and now there are many companies offering such a product.
